Aluminium 3003 forgings are mainly made up of aluminium (about 96.7%), along with manganese (around 1.0–1.5%) and small traces of copper, iron, and silicon. This alloy isn’t heat-treatable, but it shines with excellent corrosion resistance, good formability, and moderate strength. Its mechanical properties feature a tensile strength ranging from 130 to 200 MPa and a yield strength of about 115 MPa. The alloy is also known for its great workability and high fatigue resistance, with hardness typically between 40 and 65 Brinell (HB). While it may not be the best choice for high-strength applications, Aluminium 3003 is perfect for situations where corrosion resistance and dependable performance under mild to moderate mechanical stress are crucial.

Aluminium 3003 forgings find their place in various industries that need lightweight, corrosion-resistant components with solid mechanical strength. You’ll often see them in roofing sheets, gutters, sidings, and downspouts within the construction sector. In HVAC systems, they’re utilized for fins, evaporators, and condenser components thanks to their thermal conductivity. The marine industry also benefits from 3003 forgings for non-structural parts that face moisture. Additionally, they’re used in storage tanks and cooking utensils, showcasing their versatility and reliability across different applications.
