Monel is a nickel-copper alloy normally consisting of approximately 65–70% nickel and 20–29% copper, with minor levels of iron, manganese, carbon, and silicon. This alloy provides Monel with superior corrosion resistance, particularly in seawater, hydrofluoric acid, and alkaline systems. It possesses a tensile strength of between 480 and 900 MPa, as well as a yield strength of 170 to 620 MPa, based on the grade and condition. Monel provides mechanical strength at elevated and low temperatures and is weldable and only moderately hard, rendering it appropriate for several demanding applications.
