Aluminium 2017 is a heat-treatable alloy that mainly consists of aluminium (~91.5%), copper (3.5–4.5%), manganese (0.4–1.0%), and magnesium (0.4–0.8%), along with small amounts of silicon and zinc. Celebrated for its high strength and excellent machinability, it boasts a tensile strength of up to 430 MPa and a yield strength of around 275 MPa in the T4 temper. Its Brinell hardness ranges from 105 to 120 HB. While it has moderate corrosion resistance, we recommend using protective coatings in harsh environments. The forging process enhances the grain structure, boosting fatigue strength and making it perfect for heavy-duty and high-stress applications.
