Titanium grade 4 bars and rods consist of about 99.2% pure titanium with traces of oxygen, nitrogen, carbon, and iron to provide additional strengthening. It is the strongest of the commercially pure grades of titanium with a tensile strength of around 550–670 MPa and a yield strength of about 480–600 MPa. It possesses good corrosion resistance, especially in oxidizing and chloride environments. Grade 4 is weldable and possesses excellent formability but is less ductile than grades 1 to 3. It exhibits a high strength-to-weight ratio and resistance against severe chemicals, thus suitable for applications with high performance.
