Alloy Steel F5 rods and bars consist of a chromium-molybdenum alloy with around 5% chromium and 0.5% molybdenum content. This composition has good resistance to oxidation, fair corrosion resistance, and better high-temperature strength. The mechanical properties are usually characterized by a tensile strength of 485–655 MPa, yield strength of 275 MPa as a minimum, and excellent creep resistance. F5 alloy steel is quite amenable to heat treatment, providing better hardness and structural stability, and is therefore used in components that work under conditions of thermal and mechanical stress.
