ST 52.3 is a low alloy structural steel with high strength and material composition generally consisting of carbon (0.22% max), manganese (1.6% max), trace amounts of silicon, phosphorus, and sulfur. It provides a tensile strength of 490–630 MPa, a yield strength of about 355 MPa, and elongation of about 21%. ST 52.3 steel possesses good impact resistance at low temperatures and is very weldable without preheating.
