Stainless Steel 904L is a severely alloyed austenitic stainless steel that has about 20-23% chromium, 25-30% nickel, and 4-5% molybdenum with additions of copper and manganese. This chemistry gives excellent resistance to pitting, crevice corrosion, and stress corrosion cracking, especially in aggressive media such as sulfuric acid and chloride solutions. The material also provides great formability and weldability due to which it is perfectly suited for intricate shapes and high-stress applications. With a tensile strength of approximately 80-100 ksi and hardness of about 220-300 HB, Stainless Steel 904L round bars and rods provide strength along with superior resistance to corrosion.
