Invar 36, otherwise referred to as Alloy 36 or UNS K93600, is particularly formulated for dimensional stability under drastic temperature fluctuations. Kanish Metals produces every bar and rod to meet rigorous international standards, offering high performance, durability, and consistency. Supplying industries like aerospace, electronics, cryogenics, and instrumentation, Kanish Metals specializes in timely delivery, competitive prices, and custom features, ensuring that Invar 36 products are a guaranteed source for the UAE and other countries.
Invar 36 is a 36% nickel-iron alloy with the balance being iron. What distinguishes it is its extremely low coefficient of thermal expansion, especially in the range of –100°C to 260°C. Mechanical properties consist of a standard tensile strength of 490 MPa, yield strength of 275 MPa, elongation of 35%, and Brinell hardness of approximately 130 HB. The alloy possesses excellent toughness and ductility, and it is simple to machine and form. Invar 36 is also non-magnetic when in the annealed condition and maintains structural stability within a broad spectrum of temperatures.

Yes, Invar 36 bar and rod can be welded, but it requires special care due to its low expansion properties. Proper welding techniques, such as TIG or MIG, are recommended.
Yes, specific welding consumables for Invar 36 bar and rod include Invar 36 electrodes, TIG rods, and MIG wires. These materials ensure proper fusion and minimize thermal expansion issues during welding.
Invar 36 rod, primarily composed of iron and nickel, is not highly susceptible to galvanic corrosion. However, when exposed to more noble metals in corrosive environments, it can experience some galvanic effects.
Invar 36 Bars and Rods are utilized in those applications where dimensional stability is crucial under varying temperature conditions. Some typical applications are aerospace tooling, satellite and space hardware, cryogenic storage systems, precision instruments, measuring instruments, and scientific instruments. It is particularly suited for electronic applications like shadow masks, thermostat rods, and laser systems. The low thermal expansion of the material makes it critical for molds, jigs, and gauges where precise tolerances are needed to be maintained. Invar 36 is also extensively utilized in optical systems and the transportation of LNG (liquefied natural gas) because of stability and resistance to thermal stress.
