What is High Speed Steel T4 Bars ?

High Speed Steel T4 has approximately 1.3% carbon, 18% tungsten, 4% chromium, 1.2% vanadium, and trace amounts of other alloying elements. The high tungsten content provides T4 with greater hardness and resistance to softening at elevated temperatures. Upon heat treatment, T4 bars have a hardness level of about 64–66 HRC and hold their cutting edge even upon thermal and mechanical stress. Although less tough compared to cobalt-containing grades, T4 is very resistant to abrasion and can be used for cutting operations on material with medium hardness.
